About the role:
We’re looking for reliable, detail-oriented individuals to join our housekeeping team. You’ll be responsible for keeping all areas clean, safe, and welcoming for residents. This is a hands-on role that requires attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
What you’ll do:
Your day-to-day duties will include:
- Clean and sanitise assigned areas including resident rooms, bathrooms, common areas, hallways, and dining spaces
- Dust furniture and equipment regularly
- Mop and sweep all assigned areas, moving furniture as needed
- Clean windows, mirrors, door panels, and sills
- Empty wastebaskets and transport waste to disposal areas
- Restock cleaning supplies including soap, toilet paper, and paper towels
- Clean and maintain sinks and toilets
- Wipe down railings and high-touch surfaces daily
- Clean dining areas after meals
- Prepare and stock your cleaning cart at the end of each shift, ensuring chemicals are safely stored
- Report any equipment issues or maintenance needs to your supervisor
- Follow all safety procedures when handling cleaning chemicals
- Attend required training sessions
- Maintain punctuality and reliability
Skills/background needed:
No prior experience is required. We provide full training on all procedures, safety protocols, and the use of equipment and cleaning products. You should:
- Be comfortable with physical work including standing for extended periods, walking, bending, kneeling, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds
- Be able to read and understand simple written and verbal instructions
- Communicate effectively with team members and residents
- Be dependable and punctual
- Take pride in maintaining clean, safe environments
- Be willing to follow safety procedures and wear appropriate protective equipment
Work environment:
You’ll spend approximately 90% of your time working indoors and 10% outdoors. The workplace is usually moderately quiet, with some exposure to cleaning chemicals. You’ll work on various floor surfaces including carpet, tile, and linoleum. This role involves exposure to chemical hazards and the use of standard cleaning equipment such as mops, brooms, vacuum cleaners, and housekeeping carts.
