We’re looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Housekeeping Aide to join our team on a full-time, day-shift basis. This is a hands-on role that plays a vital part in maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming spaces for the people we serve. No prior experience is required – we provide full training and support to help you succeed.
About the role:
You’ll be responsible for a wide range of cleaning and maintenance tasks, including mopping and sweeping floors, dusting surfaces, cleaning bathrooms and fixtures, vacuuming carpeted areas, emptying and replacing trash liners, cleaning mirrors and windows, and maintaining overall cleanliness throughout the facility. You’ll also assist with laundry tasks such as changing soiled curtains and draperies, turning mattresses, and cleaning dining areas after meals. Physical tasks like moving furniture to clean behind and underneath, using ladders safely, and managing outdoor areas such as porches and walkways are part of the daily routine.
You’ll follow established cleaning schedules, maintain infection control standards, use appropriate safety techniques when handling chemicals, and report any equipment repairs needed to the maintenance team. Keeping supplies stocked (soap, paper towels, toilet tissue, etc.) and properly storing equipment at the end of each shift are important responsibilities. Above all, you’ll treat patients, residents, and their belongings with dignity and respect while maintaining a professional, caring attitude.
Skills and qualities we’re looking for:
You should have a basic understanding of cleaning principles and chemical safety, and be comfortable following written and oral instructions. Strong communication skills are important – you’ll interact warmly and professionally with colleagues, patients, family members, and visitors. You’ll need the ability to read and understand safety rules and procedure manuals, and to use basic maths (adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing) with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word is helpful but not essential.
